We take a lot of care in selecting the materials we use, and designing & producing our final products, but there's a lot of work that goes into our packaging as well. We've been fortunate enough to work with a terrific group of people when looking at packaging needs, and together we've produced some great little boxes. We worked with the guys at Ooco Design and came out with a bow tie box, partly inspired by that big box of matches by your grandparent's fireplace, that we and our customers have been thrilled with. Then the team at ibox produced the custom dies and have now produced thousands of bow tie boxes for us without a flaw. They use 100% post consumer materials...
We're so excited to be featured in the pages of Portland Monthly this month. We've always loved Portland, and now that we're carried by the good people at Woonwinkel we have more reason to visit! Also, a special thank you to the lovely Eden Dawn for thinking of us and featuring our always popular double-sided, gingham Regent Bow Tie.
The Cecil Bow Tie is named after a gentleman that we, unfortunately, never met. Cecil, or 'Cec' was a spirited drummer who lived on Lakeview Road in Coventry, in the midlands of England. He was also an amateur boxer in those parts, a hobby that he passed on to the youngest of his two sons. We felt as though, if Cec was to wear a bow tie, this is one that he may have been able to enjoy. Maybe not to work at the Rolls Royce aeronautics factory, but certainly when at the skins. (Incidentally, the very act of writing these few words has reminded us to learn more about the man... you have to know where you've been to...
We're thrilled that our bow ties are now available in Portland, Oregon at one of our favorite shops, Woonwinkel! The superstars at Woonwinkel have been open for 3 years now, and have always focused on well made, handcrafted creations made by independent designers and small companies.
Equally as exciting, Woonwinkel are the first account on the planet to receive items from our brand new Summer Line, including styles you'll come to know as the Harris Chambray, the Summer Sand S'n'P and the new Bike Bow! (Fun fact: Woonwinkel means "home shop" in Dutch.)
We're very excited to be unveiling our Summer 2014 Line of Bow Ties very soon. We've got new materials, patterns and origins coming to you, all perfect for the easy days of summer. One of the double sided bows that we're particularly excited about is going to give you the option of material as well as pattern, featuring organic cotton on one side and a casual linen blend on the other. As with all our ties, these will be self tie for the purist, but will come tied with an adjustable clip if you haven't learnt yet. We hope you like compliments.
